Welcome to our meditation... Take a deep breath. Stretch your arms. Stretch your legs. Align your posture. Relax your body. Relax your mind. We go through these steps before every meditation, why not take advantage of them throughout the day? There are times when we all need to release and refresh ourselves. It is easier to handle a multitude of tasks if we take small breaks in between. Taking a break allows us a chance to heal. It reduces the tension in our muscles as well as the anxiety and stress in our minds. Jumping abruptly from one activity to another can make for a rough transition and lead us to feeling overwhelmed. Just like the ebb and flow of the waves upon the ocean, try to flow from one task to the next. Ease in and out of each activity. Even just taking a moment to stop, close our eyes and take a deep breath can deliver us calmly to our next venture. The next time you decide to take a few moments, begin at your toes and work your way all the way up to your head, stretch your muscles, free the tension in your body. After that, focus on your mind. Take a deep breath and release all the tension and stress that has gathered throughout the day. Let the worries fall away for now. Allow yourself to start fresh. You can also try this before you go to sleep and just after you wake up in the morning. By becoming more mindful of rejuvenating ourselves we can not only prevent stress from building up but we can focus better, increase our positive outlook, have more energy, and have an overall better sense of well-being.
