Music

Welcome to our meditation... Close your eyes. Take a deep, cleansing breath. Listen. What do you hear? There is a song in your heart. It is the song of You. It fills your body, it echos deep within your soul. It resonates in the lives of those around you. Can you hear it? Turn it up. Listen closely. A symphony of sound: Your love, your truth, your being. There is a life force within you, drumming away. Hear the rhythm of You loud and strong. Embrace your high notes and your low notes. Just like any concerto, we rise and fall. Our lyrics sing our life story. Fill your heart and soul with the beautiful sounds of You. Share your music with the world. We have the power to heal others with our song. There is music all around us. From the beat of our own heart, to the songs playing in our head, there is the song of nature outside our door and the song of life: people, cars, the buzz of a city...even the dishwasher has it's own rhythm. 20th-century composer John Cage thought any sound can be considered music, he said,"There is no noise, only sound." Music is everywhere, it sometimes strikes a chord deep within us. It captures our emotions. It becomes a part of us. The right song can enlighten us to a whole new perspective. It can deliver us from depression or anger and has been used as treatment for neurological conditions from Parkinson's to Alzheimer's. Music can be a powerful, medicinal force washing over us, cleansing our soul. Today as you go about your day, focus on the music around you and in you. Use this medicine to bring about a positive change in your day and in those around you.
